UK Budget Planner (“the planner”, “we”, “us”) is a private personal budgeting and reminder tool. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and the choices you have. It is written for users in the United Kingdom.
1. Who is responsible
The planner is operated by the site owner. Contact for privacy questions can be made through the account owner or the email address supplied when you registered (if any).
2. What data we collect
- Account data – username, password (stored only as a secure one-way hash), optional email address, role (owner or member), and approval status.
- Planner content – the financial and personal information you choose to enter: income, bills, savings goals, appointments, birthdays, notes and related settings. This data is stored per account and is not shared with other members.
- Technical data – session cookies necessary to keep you signed in, basic server logs (IP address, timestamps, and request paths) used for security and rate-limiting, and any invitation codes you use.
We do not ask for bank account numbers, payment card details, or national insurance numbers. We do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers on the authenticated planner.
3. How we use the data
- To provide the planner service to you (display your budget, reminders and overview).
- To authenticate you and protect accounts (login rate-limiting, session management).
- To allow the owner to administer accounts, approve new members, and manage backups.
- To keep the service secure and reliable.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.
4. Where and how data is stored
Data is stored on the hosting provider’s servers (currently free.fr infrastructure) in a MySQL database. Passwords are hashed. Sessions use secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict cookies. Backups of planner state are available only to the account owner.
Because this is a small personal tool running on shared free hosting, absolute guarantees of physical location or uptime cannot be given. You should treat the planner as a convenient private workspace and keep your own export or notes of important figures if needed.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use only essential cookies:
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in (up to 7 days, or until 30 minutes of inactivity).
- Any service-worker / cache storage used by the Progressive Web App for offline static assets.
No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are set by the planner itself.
6. Sharing and access
- Each member’s planner data is kept separate.
- Only the account owner has administrative tools and the ability to view or manage other accounts and backups.
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of the service.
7. How long we keep data
Account and planner data remain until the account is deleted by the owner or the member requests deletion. Login-attempt records are kept only for short security windows. Server logs are rotated according to the host’s normal practices.
8. Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate data, to request deletion of your account, and to object to certain processing. Because this is a small private tool, the practical way to exercise these rights is to contact the account owner or use the in-app tools where available. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe your rights have been infringed.
9. Children’s privacy
The planner is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the planner after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
